A recent leak from a Weibo source suggests that the upcoming OnePlus 13 “Mini” may introduce an innovative camera configuration distinct from the company’s traditional designs. According to the tipster, this model could be equipped with a dual-camera arrangement combining a 50MP main lens with a 50MP telephoto lens.
The rumor of the OnePlus 13 “Mini” first surfaced in November, featuring expectations of a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a 6.3-inch OLED display. This highlights OnePlus’s possible move towards a more compact smartphone.
Renowned leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) shared detailed insights about the camera specifications and potential hardware changes (reported by PlayfulDroid). DCS indicated that the “mini” variant might shift away from the circular camera design seen in previous OnePlus models, proposing a straightforward bar arrangement for the dual-lens setup.
In addition, DCS remarked that this smaller flagship could feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, enhancing its performance capabilities.
Supporting this rumor, the publication referenced comments from OnePlus industrial designer Lao Haoran regarding the brand’s future design direction. Haoran hinted that upcoming models would showcase a “renewed design,” potentially indicating broader changes beyond just the “mini” flagship.
Some observers on Weibo speculated whether the new design might resemble that of the OnePlus Nord 4, which was released in August 2024. The Nord 4 includes two prominent camera lenses placed side by side on the top of its back panel. While it’s uncertain if the “bar” design might resemble a Google Pixel-style camera bump, it introduces an interesting design possibility.
Amid the speculation, the notion of a OnePlus 13 “Mini” began circulating in November, aligned with claims about its Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and flat 6.3-inch OLED display. These discussions were also linked to anticipations regarding OPPO’s development of a mini variant of the Find X8.
Reports suggest that the OPPO iteration is expected to debut in early 2025, while speculation around the OnePlus version hints at a potential release in the latter half of the year.
