The upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live is set to take place at an unexpected venue—the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The museum will debut an immersive exhibit titled “SNL: Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of Music” on May 23, showcasing the show’s illustrious legacy and its impact on music and culture.
Throughout the exhibit, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a stunning replica of the renowned Studio 8H stage, come face-to-face with costumes from legendary sketches such as the Blues Brothers and Dick In-A-Box, and relive memorable musical moments featuring artists from the Rolling Stones to Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter. Additionally, visitors can engage in an interactive segment where they can simulate being the host of the iconic program.
According to a press release, this exhibit marks the Rock Hall’s first to offer a comprehensive digital experience, featuring both English and Spanish translations and accommodations for guests with auditory, visual, and sensory needs. Iconic photography bumpers and famous musical sketches will also be integrated into the exhibit’s design.
In conjunction with the exhibit, a specially edited 20-minute version of Questlove’s documentary Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music will be featured, incorporating exclusive footage unavailable in the streaming version on Peacock. Questlove undertook the challenging task of reviewing over 900 episodes to curate this documentary, expressing his appreciation for the underappreciated musical segments of the show. In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, he mentioned the challenge of encapsulating the vast musical heritage of SNL, noting sketches and performances that have become cultural touchstones.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris commented on the exhibit’s significance, stating, “Saturday Night Live has delivered some of the most extraordinary live musical performances into our homes for five decades. The show has featured landmark appearances by numerous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees—including legends like Bowie, Prince, and Madonna.
