Investigation Launched Following Fatal Stabbing of 14-Year-Old in Woolwich

Authorities have initiated a murder investigation after the tragic stabbing of a 14-year-old boy occurred on a bus in Woolwich, located in south-east London.

The stabbing took place shortly before 2:30 PM on the Route 472 bus along Woolwich Church Road, close to the intersection with the A205 South Circular Road, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where paramedics attempted to treat the young victim who had sustained stab wounds; unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the site of the incident.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police reported that cordons were established and certain roads were closed as part of the investigation. The police have issued a call for any witnesses to come forward to assist with inquiries.

“Police received a call at 2:28 PM on Tuesday, January 7, regarding a stabbing incident on a bus in Woolwich, SE18. The incident occurred on a Route 472 bus on Woolwich Church Road, close to the junction with the A205 South Circular Road,” the spokesperson stated.

“Officers were dispatched promptly, alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. Despite their efforts to save him, the 14-year-old sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after the medics arrived.”

This incident comes just a day following another stabbing where an 18-year-old Year 12 pupil was injured nearby in Prince Imperial Way. That individual was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being attacked around 4:20 PM on Monday.

Due to the serious nature of that incident, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, which was near the scene of the altercation and attended by the victim, temporarily closed its doors.
