Luke Littler Achieves Impressive Nine-Darter at Premier League Night Seven
Luke Littler shared insights into his preparation for an exceptional nine-darter during Night Seven of the Premier League in Cardiff, attributing it to “a week off.”
In a stunning display during the fourth leg of the final against Michael van Gerwen, Littler showcased remarkable skill by managing two 180s followed by T20, T17, and D15, thrilling the already enthusiastic Cardiff crowd.
The young reigning world champion secured a 6-4 victory, marking his third nightly win in the 2025 Premier League, having previously triumphed on Night Two in Glasgow and Night Five in Brighton.
This represents the third nine-darter in the 2025 Premier League season, with players Luke Humphries and Rob Cross also achieving the feat in Brighton.
Littler’s performance continues to elevate his status in the Premier League, now placing him six points ahead at the top of the standings. Notably, he downplayed the need for extensive preparation, stating that he has been playing exceptionally well regardless of his recent break.
“I haven’t picked my darts up since last Thursday – I had a week off to chill. But to come here and win and be six points clear, I am comfortable,” Littler explained in an interview with Sky Sports.
He expressed his desire to maintain momentum toward the playoffs at the O2 arena in May: “All players need a rest, and after tonight’s performance, I will have another week off! I just want to reach the O2 as soon as possible. I have set myself up nicely and aim to finish at the top. This year, unlike last year, I’m eager to hold the number one spot.” He also acknowledged his improvement with doubles, hinting at a potential for further progress.
Laura Turner from Sky Sports Darts remarked on how impressive it is that Littler reaches these heights with minimal practice, suggesting that he has untapped layers of capability as his career unfolds. “It is daunting to recognize that Littler can still elevate his game further. He appears so at ease, engaging playfully with the crowd,” she remarked.
Turner also praised van Gerwen for his performance, noting that he kept pace in the match and demonstrated his championship quality despite finishing as the runner-up.
