2025 Academy Awards Celebrate Film and Music in Hollywood
The spotlight is on Hollywood today as the 2025 Academy Awards unfold at the prestigious Dolby Theatre. This year’s ceremony attracts not only the brightest stars in cinema but also a host of prominent musicians eager to witness the glamour and excitement. Among those anticipated to take part in the festivities are Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, alongside newer talents like Timothée Chalamet and Monica Barbaro. The event also welcomes Selena Gomez, who lends her voice to the film adaptation of Emilia Pérez, along with a plethora of other celebrated artists.
This year, the Best Picture category features a vibrant selection of films with musical roots. The nominees include the highly anticipated adaptation of the beloved stage musical Wicked, the biographical film A Complete Unknown, which delves into the life of Bob Dylan, and the Spanish-language musical Emilia Pérez. Also vying for the top award is The Brutalist, a film scored by musician Daniel Blumberg.
Blumberg is in the running for the Academy Award for Best Original Score, competing against last year’s winner, Volker Bertelmann. Bertelmann’s work on the papal drama Conclave has garnered acclaim, while other contenders in this category include Clément Ducol and Camille for Emilia Pérez, Kris Bowers for The Wild Robot, and the pairing of John Powell and Stephen Schwartz for Wicked.
In addition to their score nominations, Ducol and Camille from Emilia Pérez are poised for potential wins in the Best Original Song category as well. They’ve achieved remarkable success with two of the five nominated songs: “El Mal” and “Mi Camino.” Other notable song nominees include “Like a Bird,” penned by Abraham Alexander and Adrian Quesada for the film Sing Sing; Diane Warren’s “The Journey” from The Six Triple Eight; and “Never Too Late,” crafted by Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Watt, and Bernie Taupin for the film Elton John: Never Too Late.
Stay tuned for ongoing coverage and insights from the 2025 Academy Awards, capturing the magic of the night as it unfolds.
