Four talented actors—Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan, and Harris Dickinson—are set to star in a series of films directed by Sam Mendes that focus on The Beatles.

The casting announcement for this much-anticipated cinematic project occurred at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday. Mendes revealed that all four biographical films are slated for release in April 2028. This innovative approach will allow audiences to experience The Beatles’ story from the unique perspectives of each member.

Titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, Mendes emphasized that this series will mark the beginning of a “binge-able theatrical experience,” stating, “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast celebrated their roles by reciting lyrics from “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” echoing the spirit of Beatlemania with a salute to their legendary predecessors.

Mendes expressed his excitement about portraying the narratives of such monumental figures in music history, stating, “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies.” As a filmmaker renowned for works like American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, and Skyfall, Mendes is poised to bring a unique vision to this endeavor. Notably, he will be the first director to have complete access to the personal stories of The Beatles members as well as the rights to their music for these scripted projects. The films will be produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures, with Mendes directing and producing alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor from Neal Street Productions.
