Southern Californian Becomes $515 Million Powerball Winner
A fortunate resident of Southern California has struck it rich, becoming the latest Powerball millionaire with a ticket valued at a staggering $515 million. This winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven store located at 763 North Euclid Street in Anaheim, Orange County.
The sole winning ticket correctly matched all five numbers: 7, 11, 21, 53, 61, and the Powerball number, which was 2. Alongside this remarkable win, another individual who also matched five numbers but did not hit the Powerball will receive a prize of $279,863.
As a reward for selling the winning ticket, the 7-Eleven store will receive a $1 million bonus from the California Lottery.
This Powerball drawing marked the 29th consecutive event without a jackpot winner since Fenando Cervantes Jr. of Oregon claimed a $328.5 million jackpot on January 8, earlier this year, according to lottery officials.
Looking ahead, the next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Monday, March 31, with the top prize resetting to a starting amount of $20 million.
Officials from the California Lottery highlighted the importance of lottery games, stating, “Every California Lottery game sold contributes to the Lottery’s mission of raising extra money for California’s public schools. These funds support a variety of programs across the state.”
Powerball tickets are available for $2 per play, with drawings taking place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 7:59 PM.
