Valve Releases Critical Update for Deadlock

Valve has swiftly deployed a significant update for Deadlock on September 29, addressing a critical bug related to the in-game shop and introducing other essential enhancements.

Since the game’s early access phase commenced, Deadlock has seen a surge of interest from players worldwide, prompting the developers at Valve to focus on refining the gameplay experience for this hero-shooter MOBA.

This latest patch follows closely behind a comprehensive update released on September 26, which included various changes such as map alterations, the introduction of anti-cheat measures, and more. The September 29 update is equally noteworthy, featuring four major adjustments aimed at improving game balance and functionality.

One of the most significant changes addresses a game-breaking exploit involving the shop, which players had been abusing to enhance their characters’ abilities. Certain heroes were able to shoot at the shop, resulting in unintended buffs, with instances of players healing at no cost. This exploit created substantial imbalances within the game.

In response, Valve has taken action to rectify this issue. Specifically, the character Wraith can no longer gain card charges through this method, and lifesteal effects will no longer activate when dealing damage to shops.

In addition to the crucial bug fix, Valve has made several adjustments to enhance gameplay. Notably, the speed of ziplines on the map’s outer edges has been increased by 20%. This change will allow players to respawn and return to the action more swiftly, while the ziplines located in the center of the map will remain unchanged.

Moreover, the initial respawn timer has been reduced from 12 seconds to just 8 seconds after a player’s first death, facilitating a quicker return to the game.

Additional Gameplay Adjustments

Another important change involves the character Mirage. Players utilizing the Traveler ability to teleport can no longer carry the Soul Urn during their travels. This change aims to ensure that objectives are completed fairly without the aid of any movement-based exploits.

Patch Notes for September 29 Update

Here are the detailed patch notes for Deadlock’s September 29 update:

  • Increased hero speed on outer ziplines by 20% compared to inner lanes.
  • Reduced initial respawn time from 12 seconds to 8 seconds.
  • Soul Urn will drop when teleporting with Mirage’s Traveler ability.
  • Fixed issues with Wraith cards, Shiv Rage, and lifesteal activation from shooting the shop.
