Jesper Svensson Takes Lead at FedEx Open de France
In a closely contested third round at the FedEx Open de France, Sweden’s Jesper Svensson shot a solid 67, positioning himself just one stroke ahead as he heads into the final day of competition. Svensson’s performance has been impressive, earning him the outright lead with a total score of 13 under par.
Chasing Svensson are Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen and England’s Sam Bairstow, both tied for second at 12 under. Just behind them, fellow competitors Joe Dean and Dan Bradbury remain in striking distance, positioned at 11 under par.
Bradbury had previously shared the overnight lead with Svensson and Belgium’s Thomas Detry, finishing the round with a two-under 69. Detry, however, experienced a setback with a one-over 72, dropping him to a tie alongside Justin Rose, who is now five strokes off the lead after posting a 70.

Justin Rose, the 2013 US Open champion and former world No. 1, started the tournament strong but fell to a tie for 15th with his performance on Saturday. He now finds himself in need of a strong final round to contend with the leaders.
Svensson’s journey towards potentially securing his second victory on the DP World Tour, following his win at the Porsche Singapore Classic earlier this year, has been marked by notable consistency. During his third-round play, the 28-year-old reached an impressive 16 out of 18 greens in regulation. He kicked off the round with four birdies in his first six holes, amassing a total of five birdies before a bogey on the 17th hole capped off his round.
“I hit the ball really well all day, a lot of good looks, hit a lot of good putts,” Svensson commented, expressing hope that more putts would find the hole in the final round.
Olesen also matched Svensson’s score with a four-birdie round of 67, while Bairstow surged into contention with an exceptional six-under 65 that featured a remarkable chip-in eagle at the 14th hole. Bairstow noted the importance of maintaining momentum, saying, “Front nine was very smooth and I just holed a few putts on the back nine. Hopefully keep it going.”
In a less favorable scenario, 16-year-old Lev Grinberg struggled during his round, suffering a triple-bogey at the 15th hole after hitting two balls into the water. He finished with a score of 70, landing him in a tie for 30th at six under par.
