Kanye West’s Twitter Account Deactivated After Controversial Posts

Kanye West’s presence on social media has come to an abrupt halt. As of Monday morning, his Twitter account, previously a platform for his often contentious views, has been deactivated. Visitors to his profile are greeted with the message, “This account doesn’t exist.”

The decision to deactivate appears to have been made by West himself, following an extended outburst over Super Bowl weekend. Reports indicate that he spent a considerable amount of time on Sunday making provocative statements about a range of individuals and groups, including Taylor Swift, Sean Combs, and the Jewish community. In a controversial admission, he even referenced past incidents of domestic violence, stating he had “hit women.” In one of his final messages before deactivation, he expressed gratitude to Elon Musk, mentioning that using the platform felt like a therapeutic experience akin to an Ayahuasca trip.

As of now, a representative for X has not responded to inquiries about whether the deactivation was initiated by West himself.

West’s recent activity, which resumed late last week, included a series of posts containing the same antisemitic rhetoric that previously led to his banning from the platform. Alongside this, he published several homophobic, misogynistic, and ableist comments. In reaction to these posts, it seems that action was taken by X, as Musk labeled West’s account as “NSFW” and restricted its visibility.

It remains uncertain whether the limitation was directly tied to his inflammatory comments. Musk’s classification followed a call from conservative podcaster Joey Mannarino, who advocated for West’s banning, stating it was not a matter of free speech but rather the presence of explicit content on the platform.

In response, Musk acknowledged the situation, stating, “Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore.” Furthermore, no official comment has emerged from representatives of X regarding whether West’s previous posts influenced this classification.

This is not the first instance of West facing consequences for his posts on the platform. He was banned from X in December 2022 due to a series of antisemitic tweets, which included an image of a swastika merged with the Star of David. Musk himself initiated the ban, citing violations of the platform’s rules against incitement to violence. West’s account was restored approximately eight months later, leading to the recent controversial posts.
