Jennie Teams Up with Doechii for New Single “ExtraL” Ahead of Solo Album Release
The upcoming album Ruby by Jennie is set to release on March 7, creating considerable anticipation among fans.
Both Jennie and Doechii have notable achievements to celebrate. As Jennie prepares for her debut solo album Ruby, the Florida-based rapper is freshly energized from winning Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Their new collaboration, “ExtraL,” sees the artists celebrating their successes and prioritizing wealth and luxury over past relationships.
With lyrics that embody a fearless attitude, Jennie asserts, “Said, ‘Forget your rules,’ is the mood, damn right/Walk in a room and I set the vibe/Get a pic, it’ll last you long…” before transitioning into a trap-infused chorus that captures her bold essence.
Doechii makes a striking appearance in the music video, directed by Cole Bennett, asserting her presence with the lines: “Do my ladies run this?” Her confident verses complement the song’s theme, as she raps, “Gimme chi, gimme purr, gimme meow, gimme her, gimme funds…” She confidently claims her space, declaring her disinterest in conforming to male expectations in the industry, emphasizing her commitment to her artistry.
“ExtraL” is the third single from Ruby, following “Love Hangover,” which features Dominic Fike, and the introductory track “Mantra.” Additionally, Jennie has more collaborations lined up, including tracks with Dua Lipa and “Damn Right,” featuring Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis.
In a recent interview, Jennie shared her experimentation with various musical styles on the album, stating, “I’m playing with a lot of different genres and elements — I’m rapping here, I’m singing here, I’m harmonizing here, I’m talking here … The overall sound was me making sure I like every single [song].” She expressed her determination to curate the album authentically, stating that she fought to include only those songs she genuinely loved. Her journey to this point reflects a significant evolution in her artistry and a deepening confidence in her work.
