Gold Derby User Achieves Impressive Score in 2025 Oscars Predictions
Gold Derby user coldover celebrated a remarkable achievement by scoring 86.96 percent in the predictions for the 2025 Oscars winners, a feat that secured a tie with 89 others. However, coldover distinguished themselves with a superior point total of 73,055, thanks to the strategic use of two Super Bets (500 points each).
This year’s Oscars saw an unprecedented 13,612 participants from around the globe making their predictions. Our top predictor accurately identified 20 out of 23 winners. The Academy Awards ceremony was hosted by Conan O’Brien and featured notable victories, including Anora for both Best Picture and Best Director, along with the four acting awards which went to Mikey Madison, Adrien Brody, Zoe Saldaña, and Kieran Culkin.

For those eager to gauge their own performance, the leaderboard is available showcasing individual scores alongside a breakdown of each participant’s predictions. To review your score, navigate to the User menu at the top right of the Gold Derby site after logging in. Select “View Profile,” then locate the links to your “Award Show Scores.”
Among the 11 Gold Derby editors, Charles Bright led with an impressive 82.61 percent accuracy. Daniel Montgomery followed with 78.26 percent, while Matt Noble and Ray Richmond both achieved 73.91 percent. Denton Davidson, Joyce Eng, and Chris Beachum secured 69.57 percent, whereas Marcus James Dixon and Christopher Rosen recorded 65.22 percent. Rob Licuria finished with 60.87 percent, and Debra Birnbaum concluded the rankings with 52.17 percent.
As for the 38 experts predicting the results, Cole Jaeger (The Oscar Expert), Matt Neglia (Next Best Picture), and Kevin Polowy (CBR) all tied for the top score of 82.61 percent. Following them is Shawn Edwards (WDAF) with 78.26 percent, while Gregory Ellwood (The Playlist), Scott Mantz (KTLA), and Richmond shared a score of 73.91 percent. An impressive eight experts including Joyce Eng and Kate Erbland achieved 69.57 percent.
Next, with a score of 65.22 percent, another seven experts, including Thelma Adams and Scott Feinberg, demonstrated solid prediction skills. Additionally, a group of eight professionals registered scores of 56.52 percent, which included critics like Jacqueline Coley and Clayton Davis. Lastly, Birnbaum, along with Eric Deggans and Susan Wloszczyna, completed the list with 52.17 percent.
