Nvidia Launches Driver Update to Address Bug Issues

Nvidia is rolling out a new GPU driver today, marking a significant update aimed at resolving numerous issues related to its Game Ready drivers. The new version, 576.02, comes in response to extensive user reports concerning black screens, unexpected game crashes, and overall stability problems. This release not only increases the version number considerably from the previous 572.83 but also brings a host of crucial fixes.

The release notes for the 576.02 driver highlight various improvements, including stability enhancements for Windows 11 version 24H2, resolutions for BSOD incidents occurring while playing DLSS 4 games with Multi Frame Generation, and fixes for random black screen occurrences with the RTX 50-series GPUs. There are also improvements addressing “game stability issues when playing games that utilize DLSS Frame Generation along with GSYNC technology.”

This driver update appears to mitigate random crashes in games such as Fortnite, and resolves issues like the Star Wars Outlaws hang that occurs during idle periods. Notable fixes also include those for crashes in Monster Hunter Wilds and stuttering issues when enabling VSYNC in Overwatch 2. Additionally, it addresses a variety of concerns in titles such as Hellblade 2, Control, The Last of Us Part 1, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

This extensive release of bug fixes is atypical for Nvidia’s standard updates, which often feature only a limited number of resolved issues. Typically, the release notes detail only a few fixes that occupy half a page; however, this round of updates spans nearly two pages, indicating the scale of the problems addressed.

There is hope that this comprehensive list of fixes will alleviate the multitude of complaints that have surfaced following the launch of the RTX 5090 in January. Nvidia’s recent challenges with driver stability in the RTX 50-series have also negatively affected users with older GPU models, particularly after the launch of DLSS 4.
