The reality television star “Boston Rob” Mariano has stepped back from the limelight following his recent elimination from Season 3 of The Traitors.
In a conversation with People, Mariano shared his current mindset: “At this point, I’m kind of just hanging out. I don’t have a desire to go back and compete in that realm right now. I’m going to take a little break; the kids are off for the summer.”
Despite his hiatus from competitive reality TV, Mariano expressed optimism about future projects, stating, “I truly feel like I’m the luckiest person in the world. I didn’t expect to be still doing it after 25 years, so never say never. You never know what’s going to happen.”
Mariano is best known for his extensive history on Survivor, where he participated in five seasons, including Marquesas, All-Stars, Heroes vs. Villains, Redemption Island—which he won—and Winners at War. He also contributed as a mentor in the show’s Island of the Idols season.
In addition to his Survivor achievements, Mariano and his wife, Amber Brkich, a winner of All-Stars, appeared together on The Amazing Race during its seventh season and later in the competitive all-star 11th season.
More recently, Mariano reached the final four in the inaugural season of Deal or No Deal Island. However, his journey on The Traitors ended when he was banished by other contestants in the seventh episode.
Mariano remains grateful for the opportunities that The Traitors has presented, particularly the chance to connect with a fresh audience. He mentioned, “You have that whole Bravo world, where I think it introduced a whole new subset of people that watch reality TV to me. And now I hear a lot of people are going back and watching the old Survivors and the old Amazing Races and stuff. It’s kind of cool to see the younger generation seeing all the stuff I’ve been doing for 25 years.”
At home, Mariano enjoys the support of his family. He and Amber have four daughters: Lucia, 15, Carina, 14, Isabetta, 12, and Adelina, 10. Reflecting on their support, he said, “They’re pretty supportive of the whole thing. We all get a good laugh out of it for sure.”
