Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane has responded to negative comments regarding her age that followed her recent humorous selfie shared on social media.
Imane ‘Pokimane‘ Anys holds the title of the most-followed female on Twitch and is recognized as a prominent figure in online gaming circles, often engaging with her audience as she plays a variety of games.
Her latest post, intended to be light-hearted with a caption reading “angy,” surprisingly drew a slew of critical remarks, particularly focusing on her age rather than the content of the photo itself.
Several comments directly pointed out her age, with one stating, “30 years old, by the way,” and another mocking her by saying, “Grown-ass woman saying ‘angy,’ by the way,” alongside a screenshot revealing her birth year.
Pokimane Responds to Criticism over Age
In a follow-up message posted the next day, Pokimane addressed the comments head-on, calling out the “weirdos” who felt the need to scrutinize her age.
“I’m experiencing an unusual surge of strange comments about my age, and honestly, I find it incredibly silly,” she remarked. “At 28, I’m in the happiest, wealthiest, most knowledgeable, and most confident period of my life, and that sentiment only becomes truer as I grow older.”
Furthermore, she expressed concern for young women who might be affected by such harassment, asserting that age does not define one’s value. “While I’m indifferent to the comments, I worry about the implications for girls and women witnessing this type of negativity. I want to reassure you that life continues to improve. Aging will not bring you down, but living to satisfy inconsiderate people certainly will!”
“I got a weird influx of weirdos commenting on my age lol, tbh I find it so dumb At 28, I’m the happiest, richest, most knowledgeable & self-assured I’ve ever been, and that only becomes more true with each passing year ”
“Although I don’t care about the comments, I do worry about…”

Support and encouragement poured in from various streamers, including QTCinderella who lightheartedly stated, “I, too, am not old and very rich also,” while cosplayer Jessica Nigri shared her own experience with age-related comments, emphasizing resilience: “I’m 34, and I started facing these remarks at 27. The more they say it, the easier I get—my determination only strengthens.”
Pokimane’s experience is not unique; other female streamers such as Valkyrae have faced similar derogatory comments. Following her 32nd birthday, Valkyrae was infamously described as “expired,” to which she responded with her trademark humor.
