Vivo has unveiled its latest innovations, focusing on the launch of the X200 Ultra and X200s smartphones yesterday, followed by a debut in the tablet segment today with the vivo Pad5 Pro and the more budget-friendly vivo Pad SE. Additionally, the tech company introduced the vivo Watch 5, expanding its wearable lineup.

vivo Pad5 Pro

At the forefront is the vivo Pad5 Pro, a 13-inch tablet featuring a high-brightness LCD boasting a staggering 1,200 nits. With a resolution of 3,096 x 2,064 pixels, the display is designed for a variety of applications, including streaming (supporting 10-bit colors and HDR10), gaming (with a rapid 144Hz refresh rate), and productivity tasks (employing a versatile 3:2 aspect ratio). It comes equipped with an impressive eight-speaker audio system, enhancing the overall entertainment experience.

This tablet is noteworthy as it incorporates the Dimensity 9400 chipset, hailed as a powerful option in the market despite the subsequent release of the 9400+. Vivo showcases its performance with an AnTuTu benchmark score surpassing 2.9 million points alongside a sophisticated “three-dimensional” cooling mechanism. Depending on the gaming scenario, the tablet can deliver rendering capabilities at either 3.1K resolution or at 2.4K with 120fps using super-resolution techniques.

Configurations for the Pad5 Pro include options for 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB of RAM, along with storage variants of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Notably, the 128GB model utilizes UFS 3.1, while the higher-capacity options leverage faster UFS 4.1 technology.

Weighing in at just 635g and measuring 6.07mm in thickness, the tablet also offers a “feather-light” alternative, which is slightly thinner at 5.96mm and weighs only 578g. Both versions house a robust 12,050mAh battery, promising an extended usage of up to 16 hours for streaming video content, with fast charging capabilities at 66W.

The tablet operates on Origin OS 5 HD, a specialized version of Vivo’s software that emphasizes advanced office functionalities. Users can pair the device with a stylus or the optional Smart Touch Keyboard 5 Pro case for enhanced productivity.

Connectivity options are impressive, featuring Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1 data speeds. The rear of the tablet is equipped with a 13MP camera capable of 4K video capture, while an 8MP front camera caters to selfies and video calls. Color varieties include Cold Star Gray, Spring Tide Blue, Cloud Pink, and the unique Feather Light White option reserved for the slimmest model.

The display can reach a maximum brightness of 600 nits.

Weighing between 559g and 569g, depending on the model, the SE includes a standard version and a Soft Light variant, which incorporates a special layer to minimize reflections and enhance reading comfort—a thoughtful feature for educational use.

Equipped with an undisclosed Qualcomm chipset, likely the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, the tablet supports either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM alongside storage options of 128GB or 256GB using UFS 3.1 technology.

The battery capacity is set at 8,500mAh, providing approximately up to 8 hours of streaming with a slower 15W charging speed. Audio is supported through four speakers, ensuring an immersive sound experience.

Camera features include two 5MP sensors, located at the front and back of the device. An intriguing mirror accessory clips onto the front camera, transforming it into a scanner capable of digitizing textbooks and other documents. The integrated OCR technology within the Origin OS enables text recognition, allowing users to annotate scanned documents or utilize them for practice tests.

The vivo Pad SE will be available in China on April 25, starting at a price of CNY 1,000 for the base model (roughly $137 or €120). Variants include options for the Soft Light model, which incurs an additional CNY 200 charge.
