Marc Marquez dominated the 2025 sprint race, securing his fifth consecutive victory aboard the Ducati factory bike. Despite a momentary challenge from Fabio Quartararo, who started from pole position, Marquez quickly regained the lead on the second lap.
Once Marquez established his position, the race transformed into a showcase for Ducati, with their bikes sweeping the top six finishes. Alex Marquez from Gresini Ducati secured second place, while Francesco Bagnaia took third on his factory machine, solidifying their standings in the championship. Currently, Marc leads Alex by a comfortable 20 points.
The excitement during the sprint was concentrated in the first lap and a half. Although Marc Marquez made an impressive start, Quartararo fought back to claim the lead as they entered the first corner. This brief leadership was short-lived, however, as Marquez closed in swiftly and executed a well-timed overtaking maneuver on the hairpin at Pedrosa, pulling ahead decisively.
Despite Quartararo’s attempts to keep pace by taking the outside line, he ultimately struggled with his Yamaha and crashed out of the race, granting Marquez a substantial lead over his brother Alex. The rest of the race unfolded with little contention, as Alex was unable to challenge Marc effectively, and Bagnaia remained in third place without troubling Alex for second.
Franco Morbidelli, riding the VR46 Ducati, briefly threatened to overtake Bagnaia early in the race but couldn’t maintain his position and found himself behind the factory Ducati rider for the remainder of the sprint. Following closely was Fermin Aldeguer from Gresini, who faced early pressure from Fabio di Giannantonio but eventually secured fifth place, distancing himself from the competition.
Maverick Vinales finished seventh, being the highest-placed non-Ducati rider, while the last two points were claimed by Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia and Joan Mir from Honda. In a twist of fate, Yamaha, despite having a pole-winning performance, finished without any points in the riders’ championship.
