The Houthi militant group in Yemen claimed on Monday that a U.S. airstrike has resulted in the deaths of at least 68 African migrants, targeting a detention center situated in an area under their control. This strike is part of ongoing U.S. military operations ordered by President Donald Trump against the Iran-aligned militia, which began last month.
Local Yemeni rescuers are reported to have recovered the bodies of victims from the wreckage of a building that was struck, following additional U.S. strikes in the northern province of Saada.

Key Facts
According to the Houthi-operated Al Masirah TV, Reuters reported, at least 47 additional individuals sustained injuries in the incident at the migrant detention facility located in Yemen’s Saada Governorate.
The news outlet affiliated with the Houthi group broadcasted graphic images from the scene, showing deceased individuals alongside the wounded, while the Houthi Interior Ministry stated that 115 migrants were present at the site during the strike.
According to reports from the Associated Press, those detained are primarily migrants from Ethiopia and other African nations attempting to reach Saudi Arabia by traversing through Yemen.
Late Sunday night, the U.S. military’s Central Command provided a statement declaring that their forces have engaged in “a focused and sustained effort to target the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen” since March 15, reportedly striking more than 800 specified locations.
The announcement did not explicitly refer to the Saada strike, indicating that details about ongoing or upcoming military actions are being held back to maintain “operational security.”
This is a developing story.
