In a recent discussion, Mahesh Bhatt recounted discovering that Parveen had been married before to a man who eventually left for Pakistan, never to return. This revelation came as a surprise to him, as the topic was seldom discussed openly in her family, although it sometimes emerged during her mother’s visits from Junagadh.
“Her mother would occasionally mention this during visits, especially as we were already together at that point. I was living with her, and that’s when it came up that she had been married, but her husband had moved to Pakistan,” he shared in an interview with BBC News Hindi.
Years later, during a trip to Pakistan for a film festival in 2003, Bhatt was informed that someone wished to meet him. He reflected, “I was told that someone wanted to meet, but schedules didn’t align. I never refused; it just didn’t happen. I wondered why this person wanted to see me, as I had always been open to connections.”
