Donald Trump
My Top Picks for the Next Pope …
Myself Included!!!

Donald Trump has humorously put forward an unconventional candidate for the next leader of the Catholic Church—himself!
When asked during a recent event about who he believes should take over the papacy following Pope Francis‘ passing, Trump quickly declared himself as the top choice for the position.
While it appears that Trump was jesting, he also mentioned that he lacks a strong preference, yet brought up a cardinal from New York whom he thinks may be suitable for the role.
That cardinal seems to be Timothy Dolan, the only American cardinal currently viewed as a serious contender for the papacy. Dolan was ordained in 1976 and elevated to cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012.
Dolan is well-known for his conservative stance, openly criticizing issues like contraception and expressing discontent over the removal of statues of controversial figures during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
Realistically, it’s unlikely that Trump will take on the role of pope, given that he is not a cardinal and not known to be a regular churchgoer. Nevertheless, he did attract considerable attention at Pope Francis’ funeral, where he stood out in a bright blue suit—perhaps signaling his desire to make an impression.
Moreover, Trump has been vocal about his ambitions to extend his political career beyond the end of his term in 2028, even marketing “Trump 2028” merchandise on his website.
Indeed, many were skeptical about Trump’s initial path to the presidency, so it’s not entirely out of the question that he could find himself soaring aboard a hypothetical “Pope Force 1” one day!
