US Company Reveals Concept Flying Car Capable of Vertical Take-Off
An American aeronautical company has unveiled a concept model of its flying car, showcasing its ability to perform a vertical take-off. The footage features the vehicle soaring above a standard SUV, highlighting its potential for urban mobility.
CEO Jim Dukhovny of Alef Aeronautics shared insights with BBC senior technology reporter Chris Vallance, mentioning that the company has amassed thousands of pre-orders and is optimistic about commencing production within the next year.
Priced at approximately $300,000 (£237,000), the anticipated electric flying car is projected to have an aerial range of 110 kilometers (68 miles). However, potential owners should note that the design accommodates only one and a half people in the cockpit, which may pose challenges for those wanting to share the experience.
As highlighted by Vallance, Alef Aeronautics is part of a growing competition in the pursuit of making flying cars commercially viable. However, substantial technological advancements and regulatory frameworks must be addressed before these vehicles can be widely adopted.
