Creating a Home: A Journey Through Art and Design

In their Atlanta loft, the couple has curated a space that emphasizes both functionality and personal expression. Key elements of the interior, such as a rolled-steel dining table, reflect the industrial charm of the loft’s architecture, characterized by expansive windows and concrete flooring. “We strive to allow the space to inform us about its identity,” says Bradley, while also emphasizing the importance of adding playful touches, such as the whimsical Anne Herbst console table, elevated by statuesque carved lions.

The loft serves not just as a residence but as a testament to the life shared by Bradley and Peter. It acts as a canvas for the collection of art and furnishings they have gathered over time, capturing the essence of their travels to far-flung cities like High Point, Paris, and Charleston. Much of their art collection has been curated with the guidance of Robin Sandler, a notable figure from Atlanta’s Sandler Hudson Gallery. The couple values these professional relationships, with many local artists and gallery owners considered friends. Peter notes, “It’s wonderful to host these individuals in our home; it gives our space deeper meaning and reflects a community we cherish.”

Reflecting on the future, Bradley mentions, “Neither of us perceives this loft as our permanent residence,” viewing it instead as a vital transitional phase in their journey together, particularly as they embark on their first years of marriage. The items they have selected—and the memories attached to them—whether brought from Peter’s native Germany, retained from Bradley’s single years, or newly acquired as a couple, will “continue to evolve and tell our story,” asserts Peter. This blend of history and personal significance infuses the loft with warmth and character, ensuring that it remains a vibrant backdrop for their evolving lives.

Bradley and Peter, alongside their vizslas, Stella Bates and Grayton Rhodes, find joy in their Atlanta loft, where every piece has a narrative, contributing to a collective ambiance of comfort and creativity.
