Amitabh Bachchan Applauds Junaid Khan’s Talent in Maharaj
Siddharth P Malhotra helmed the film Maharaj, which marks a significant entry for Junaid Khan, son of renowned actor Aamir Khan. Junaid has gained considerable recognition through his role in this film, as well as his performances in the web series Tanaav, earning him a large and enthusiastic fan base.
Before Junaid embarked on his acting journey, Aamir Khan was skeptical of his son pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. In a recent episode of Amitabh Bachchan’s television quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Aamir reflected on his earlier concerns about Junaid’s aspirations. However, during the episode, Bachchan praised Junaid’s work in Maharaj and encouraged him to share insights from his father’s career. Aamir recounted that he initially advised Junaid against acting, especially after he encountered multiple rejections in auditions, stating that he believed Junaid should reconsider his choices. Despite this, Junaid eventually landed a role in Maharaj, contrary to his father’s initial reservations.
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Maharaj features a strong cast with Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari Wagh, and Shalini Pandey playing key roles. The film draws inspiration from the historical 1862 Maharaja Libel Case, telling the story of a religious figure who sues a newspaper for making allegations regarding his relationships with female followers. Junaid takes on the character of journalist Karsandas Mulji, a role that showcases his acting abilities. Filming for Maharaj began in February 2021 and was wrapped up eight months later, leaving Junaid eagerly awaiting its release.
As reported by News 18, Junaid faced a challenging path to his debut, undergoing numerous auditions that often ended in rejection, including for his father’s own production, Laal Singh Chaddha. Despite this discouraging experience, a stroke of luck came when the producer of Maharaj discovered one of Junaid’s earlier audition tapes, leading to a new opportunity, albeit under certain conditions.
About Junaid
Junaid dedicated three years to studying dramatics and completed his graduation in the field. In addition to his formal education, he spent significant time refining his skills in theatre, which laid a solid foundation for his acting career. His determination to break into the film industry has been evident since 2017, when he began actively seeking roles alongside his theatrical involvement.
Work Front
Following Maharaj, Junaid is set to feature in the upcoming film Love Today, directed by Advait Chandan, which will also star notable actors Shahid Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor in significant roles.
