A behind-the-scenes video from Taare Zameen Par shoot shows how Aamir Khan guided Darsheel Safary to deliver emotional scenes in the film.

Taare Zameen Par premiered in 2007, marking a significant milestone in Indian cinema.

Over 17 years have passed since the release of Taare Zameen Par, a film starring Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary that resonated deeply with audiences. The film, which centers around the struggles of an artistic young boy named Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi, is renowned for its emotional impact, often moving viewers to tears. Interestingly, during the shooting process, Safary initially faced challenges in expressing the required emotions, particularly during tearful scenes. Aamir Khan, who both produced and directed the film, took on the responsibility of guiding the young actor through these emotionally charged sequences.

A recently surfaced behind-the-scenes video reveals Khan’s approach to coaching Darsheel. In the footage shared by Aamir Khan Talkies on YouTube, Aamir can be seen demonstrating Darsheel’s scenes to set an example of the emotional depth he aimed to capture. In the video, Aamir discusses the difficulties Darsheel experienced, expressing, “Darsheel had a lot of trouble with crying. Very early on in the film, I realized that he finds it very difficult to cry. And that is the one area that I had to really work on with him.”

Khan reflected on his interactions with young Darsheel, noting that there were moments when he felt impatience. However, he quickly reminded himself of the boy’s age, saying, “There used to be times when I used to get impatient with him because I would expect him… I mean, he is just 9 years old when he was shooting the film. Then I had to remind myself that ‘Aamir, you’re talking to an 8-9-year-old child.’ Give him some time.” He acknowledged that Darsheel’s intelligence made it easy to view him as an equal, despite his youth.

Khan praised Darsheel’s talent, stating, “And the performance that he has given in this film is absolutely outstanding.” His comments only underscore the incredible work done by the young actor throughout the film.

Taare Zameen Par, which was released on December 21, 2007, features a talented ensemble cast including Tanay Chheda, Vipin Sharma, and Tisca Chopra, in addition to Khan and Safary. The film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of viewers and remains a hallmark of storytelling in Indian cinema.
