The anticipated trailer for Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has received official approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This sports drama is being positioned as a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 hit, Taare Zameen Par, and excitement has been building steadily since its announcement.
As per the latest CBFC announcement, the trailer has been assigned a UA 13+ rating, indicating it is suitable for viewers aged 13 and older, albeit with parental guidance recommended. The certification was granted by the Mumbai Regional Office on April 25, 2025, and the trailer spans 3 minutes and 29 seconds, offering an enticing glimpse into its motivational narrative.
The trailer was submitted to the CBFC by Aamir Khan Films LLP, the production company behind the project. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par diverges from the 2007 film’s focus on dyslexia and instead centers around sports. While the specific release date for the trailer remains undisclosed, the approval signals that it could be available to audiences in the near future.
In this new film, Aamir Khan portrays the role of an alcoholic coach who mentors a group of specially-abled children as they strive for success in the Paralympics. This narrative is expected to carry the same emotional resonance that endeared Taare Zameen Par to audiences. Joining Khan are Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary, the latter returning in a new, impactful role.
There were speculations that the trailer might debut alongside Salman Khan’s much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar. However, reports suggest that it will instead premiere with Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, Raid 2. This strategy is believed to be aimed at maximizing exposure and attracting a broader audience in theaters.
Sitaare Zameen Par is slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. Initially, it was set for a May 30 release; however, Aamir Khan decided to adjust the timing to optimize its box office performance and avoid competing with other significant film releases.
