Aaron Pierre Celebrated with Rising Star Award at ABFF Honors
This week, Aaron Pierre, known for his role in “Mufasa,” received the Rising Star Award during the 7th Annual American Black Film Festival Honors. The event, which highlights achievements in the Black film industry, served as a platform to acknowledge emerging talents.
In an interview with “Extra,” Pierre shared his thoughts on the recent surge of attention he received, particularly from his viral “That’s Mufasa” spirit tunnel walk on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” His performance struck a chord with audiences, turning into a memorable moment.
“I feel nothing but love and joy whenever people greet me with that,” Pierre expressed, reflecting on the positive reception. “It was a beautiful moment, and I’m so grateful and joyful that it resonated with people and they enjoyed the moment.”
Pierre admitted that he was taken aback by the viral nature of the video. “I’m very out the way, so I had people tell me what was going on, but I didn’t see it myself… It’s joy and it’s a beautiful thing. I’m grateful,” he stated.
Regarding his recognition at the ABFF Honors, Pierre articulated his feelings of gratitude and appreciation. “It’s a beautiful feeling… As I’ve said before, to feel seen, to feel appreciated, those are treasures that are never missed on me,” he remarked. He added, “To be in this room with all of these wonderful artists and be part of this moment is something I will remember forever and I’ll be holding very dearly to my heart.”
