Adarsh Gourav Set to Enter Telugu Cinema with a Psychological Horror Film
Adarsh Gourav is preparing to broaden his cinematic horizons by making his debut in the Telugu film industry with an intriguing psychological horror movie. Slated for a 2025 release, this project will be directed by Baba Shashank and produced by Jahnavi, the daughter of esteemed producer D.V.V. Danayya.
The actor, who gained widespread recognition for his performance in The White Tiger, expressed enthusiasm for the gripping narrative of this film, which aims to delve deep into the psychological aspects of horror—a genre he has not previously explored.
Gourav spoke highly of the South Indian film industry, noting its reputation for producing “some of the most compelling and innovative films.” He stated, “I’ve always believed that great stories transcend language. As an actor, I relish the opportunity to engage with diverse narratives across different industries. The South film industry particularly excites me for its originality.” He emphasized his eagerness to join this vibrant filmmaking community with this yet-to-be-titled project.
“This film is particularly special; it’s my first foray into psychological horror. The compelling story captivated me from the outset. Collaborating with such a visionary production team and making my Telugu debut under Jahnavi’s banner is an incredible opportunity. I am eager for audiences to experience what we are creating,” he elaborated.
Adarsh made his entry into acting in 2010 with the drama My Name Is Khan. He rose to international fame through his portrayal of Balram Halwai, a driver in the noteworthy film The White Tiger, a role that earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. His acting portfolio also includes popular titles like Hostel Daze, the comic series Guns & Gulaabs, and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.
Currently, he is involved in another project, Superboys of Malegaon, which is a coming-of-age film directed by Reema Kagti and penned by Varun Grover. The film, which draws inspiration from the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, showcases the journey of Nasir Shaikh and other aspiring filmmakers from the small town of Malegaon. It features a talented cast, including Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan.
