Adele Closes Las Vegas Residency with Emotional Farewell
Adele concluded her highly successful residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, marking the end of a two-year journey that began in November 2022. Facing her audience on the final night of “Weekends With Adele,” she expressed a poignant sentiment, stating, “I don’t know when I’m next going to perform again,” and added, “I will miss it terribly, and I will miss you terribly.”
In a candid moment captured by a fan, Adele admitted, “I’m not doing anything else,” and humorously confessed her anxiety about future performances. “I don’t have any f—ing plans,” she added, reflecting a sense of uncertainty regarding her upcoming endeavors.
During her farewell speech, Adele lightheartedly recounted her initial decision to undertake a residency instead of touring, saying, “I f—ing hate touring.” With tears in her eyes, she explained her choice was driven by the desire to provide her son with a stable lifestyle, highlighting her commitment to family: “I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal, and I did do that.”
The residency, which ran from November 2022 to November 2024, featured two performances each weekend, resonating deeply with fans who attended her shows. Reflecting on her emotional journey, Adele noted a pivotal moment of closure when music icon Celine Dion attended her concert. She revealed, “I cried for a whole week” after the experience, calling it a “full-circle moment” and asserting, “That’s the only reason I ever wanted to be in here.”
Dion, who was the first to open The Colosseum with her residency in 2003, surprised Adele by attending her show on October 26 with her sons. Acknowledging Dion’s presence during her performance of “When We Were Young,” Adele became visibly emotional and later shared on social media her admiration for the venue, stating, “The Colosseum was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her.” She also expressed her gratitude for the remarkable moment, emphasizing its significance.
Looking ahead, Adele has indicated her intention to take an extended break from music following the conclusion of her residency. She expressed the need to recharge, saying, “I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while,” suggesting that fans may not see her return to the stage soon.
