Adobe has recently provided a glimpse into various artificial intelligence (AI) agents that are currently under development across its software suite. The company, headquartered in San Jose, is exploring how these intelligent tools can assist users by automating routine tasks, thereby allowing them to concentrate on more creative and productive endeavors. Significant developments are underway for applications like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, Adobe Express, and Creative Cloud, enhancing the overall user experience in creation and editing.
Adobe Showcases AI Agents in Product Range
In a detailed blog entry, Adobe elaborated on the various AI agents that are in development. The term ‘AI agents’ has been used broadly in the industry, with varying definitions across companies. Fundamentally, these agents are designed to possess central intelligence that can analyze problems and execute solutions using multiple external tools, all while working independently to complete assigned tasks.
Adobe’s forthcoming AI agents will be tailored for distinct roles, bringing specialized expertise in areas such as academic research, sales, and tutoring. For instance, users of Acrobat can upload multiple documents and engage an AI agent through text prompts to perform targeted tasks. These agents will be able to scrutinize the documents, respond to inquiries, and offer insights or recommendations, such as summarizing key points for the user.
Adobe Express is also set to benefit from an AI agent designed to be a “creative partner” during the design process. This platform enables users to not only develop but also refine their designs. The upcoming AI agent will assist users with creating and modifying designs, while also supporting them by enabling manual edits when desired.
Moreover, businesses can input their brand-specific materials, allowing the AI to understand and replicate a consistent design language, which can significantly alleviate the design workload for teams, including those in smaller startups.
Adobe plans to launch its first “creative agent” within Photoshop later this month, accompanied by a new Actions panel. This agent will evaluate images uploaded to the platform and offer contextually relevant editing suggestions, which users can either approve or dismiss with ease. Furthermore, natural language prompts will facilitate access to over 1,000 distinct actions available through the tool.
Importantly, Adobe emphasized that the forthcoming AI tools aim to do more than expedite editing processes; they are envisioned as supportive assistants that enhance users’ interaction with Photoshop. Future iterations of the AI agent will be equipped to provide feedback and learning opportunities, as well as execute repetitive tasks like preparing assets for exportation.
Creative Cloud will also be integrating an AI agent that can autonomously handle a range of tasks in the background, allowing users to dedicate their focus to current projects or skill enhancement. This functionality may include the completion of ongoing design projects or proposing and executing subsequent workflow steps upon user approval.
Additionally, Adobe has recently rolled out an agentic tool in Premiere Pro known as Media Intelligence. This feature enhances search capabilities within the user’s library, allowing for the retrieval of specific clips through natural language queries. The agent can identify various attributes including subjects, locations, visual styles, and spoken content, enabling editors to locate clips effortlessly—such as retrieving a “close-up of a glass of orange juice” from a comprehensive media library.
While the AI agent for Premiere Pro is already functional, other agents remain under development and are anticipated for release later this year. The Photoshop AI agent is expected to be the first to debut, following Adobe’s showcase next month.
