Adrianne Lenker, the talented frontwoman of Big Thief, has officially unveiled plans for a new live album that will document her experiences during her solo tour in 2024.

Scheduled for release on Thursday, April 24, through 4AD and Remote Control, Live at Revolution Hall encompasses 43 tracks recorded over a three-day period in June 2024. Primarily featuring performances at Revolution Hall in Portland, the collection includes a mix of beloved songs, lesser-known tracks, and previously unreleased material from Lenker’s extensive discography. One of the standout unreleased songs, “Happiness,” has already been shared as a preview for fans ahead of the album’s release.

Joining Lenker on stage for these performances were pianist Nick Hakim and violinist Josefin Runsteen. The album was recorded by Andrew Sarlo, who has collaborated extensively with both Lenker and Big Thief as a producer.

In a recent statement, Sarlo expressed his admiration for the live album, noting that it showcases Lenker’s versatility with a range of songs, some of which are new, rare, or widely cherished. He described the album as “a loving memento” crafted over the course of three days during the Bright Future tour, emphasizing the friendship and camaraderie among the artists involved.

The album’s runtime is approximately 120 minutes and features a unique production style, as it was recorded exclusively on reel-to-reel and cassette tape, offering a fresh interpretation of what a live record can encapsulate.

Lenker’s ongoing 2024 tour highlights her latest solo work, Bright Future, which achieved considerable success, peaking at No. 5 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and earning Lenker her first Grammy nomination as a solo artist in the Best Folk Album category.

As Lenker prepares for her solo endeavors, she will also reunite with Big Thief for a series of live performances in September and October. The band has yet to release new material since their 2022 album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, which notably reached No. 31 on the Billboard 200, marking their most successful chart performance to date.

In July 2024, Big Thief announced the departure of bassist Max Oleartchik, which was attributed to “interpersonal reasons.” The band conveyed their heartfelt sentiments in a statement, asking for understanding as they navigate this significant transition.

Earlier that year, the group released a benefit EP titled Passional Relations, compiled to support those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, showcasing some of their favorite unreleased songs.
