Adrien Brody Expresses Solidarity Amid L.A. Fires at Film Critics Awards

During the New York Film Critics Circle’s 2025 Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, actor Adrien Brody reflected on the devastating wildfires occurring in Los Angeles while celebrating his win for Best Actor for his role in “The Brutalist.” His heartfelt remarks highlighted the impact of the fires on both the community and himself.

As he spoke, Brody became visibly emotional. “I would be remiss to not mention the weight of what’s on all of our minds and in our hearts tonight,” he stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. “It’s been a heavy day for me,” he admitted, as he struggled to contain his emotions.

After a brief moment of reflection, he added, “It’s hard to accept something like this when there’s so much suffering in the world. And my heart goes out to all of the families and the animals and our colleagues.” His comments underscored the widespread impact of the fires, which have garnered significant attention and concern across the nation.

Brody took the opportunity to acknowledge the destruction caused by the Pacific Palisades Fire, noting that homes along the western coastline had been lost. “The homes on the westside, the beach side of PCH are gone from the Palisades on. This is our community,” he said, expressing gratitude for the courageous efforts of first responders. “I just want to thank and commend the bravery of the first responders and sacrifices and their meaningful work that deserves our recognition tonight.”

In closing his remarks, Brody expressed his solidarity with those affected: “I just want to share that my thoughts are with everyone affected by this horrific event. They’re in my prayers, and I know that we’re all praying for their safety.”

Brody’s Public Message of Support

Brody also took to Instagram to share a supportive message with a wider audience, stating, “My heart goes out to everyone in Los Angeles and the surrounding communities, including all the animals and wildlife impacted by these catastrophic fires. Sending prayers and gratitude to the brave first responders and to all of you affected by this devastating moment. “

The Scale of the Fires

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Pacific Palisades Fire has consumed over 17,000 acres, while the Eaton Fire has scorched more than 10,000 acres. The Sunset Fire erupted in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday night, burning an additional 60 acres.

Tragically, the recent wildfires have claimed the lives of five individuals, and approximately 2,000 structures have been destroyed across several fires this week. The ongoing situation continues to be a major concern for residents and officials alike as communities rally together in the face of this crisis.
