Business Owner Faces Harassment Following Cybertruck Purchase

Vanessa Voss, a 42-year-old business owner from Tacoma, Washington, acquired a Cybertruck last year, primarily for promotional activities related to her agency, Voss Insurance Group. Despite the controversial spotlight surrounding the vehicle, her intent was solely to leverage its unique design for marketing purposes.

However, the last fortnight has seen an alarming rise in threats directed toward Voss and her business. She reported receiving harassing communications across various platforms, including online threats, phone calls, and social media attacks.

In light of this distressing situation, Voss invested $436 in a self-defense course for her team and has encouraged them to leave the office before nightfall for their safety.

This narrative is based on a discussion with Vanessa Voss, who has confirmed the authenticity of her experiences and the harassment she is facing.

Voss explains that the decision to purchase the Cybertruck was a practical business move. The vehicle features her agency’s logo and branding prominently displayed, which is intended to enhance visibility and market her services, particularly those related to Medicare and retirement assistance.

She clarifies that her agency provides guidance for clients navigating their options for prescription drug coverage, Medicare supplements, and Medicare Advantage plans. Voss emphasizes the importance of advertising and branding in connecting with potential clients.

The harassment began shortly after the acquisition of the Cybertruck, which was made prior to escalating incidents of vandalism linked to the vehicle and mounting political controversies surrounding Tesla. Voss describes receiving an immediate death threat in a phone call, marking the beginning of a series of aggressive encounters.

After the initial threats, Voss attempted to file a police report, though she found law enforcement’s ability to intervene limited unless the harassment escalated to physical confrontations. A police officer suggested that she keep the Cybertruck stored away until the situation improved.

Following the surge of harassing calls, Voss reported receiving constant negative voicemails, with some individuals resorting to threats related to her business operations. She suspects a coordinated effort behind the harassment, evidenced by the similarities in messages received from different callers.

While Voss is not in immediate fear for her life, she takes the threats seriously, especially given the demographics of her office, which consists of four women. To ensure their safety, she has taken proactive measures, including arranging for self-defense training focused on various safety strategies.

Her employees’ security and wellbeing are of paramount importance to Voss, who acknowledges the rising discomfort among her staff in the wake of these incidents. Various precautions have been introduced, such as office discussions on safety and tactical car window tinting to enhance privacy while driving the Cybertruck.

Voss expresses deep dismay regarding the societal mindset that allows individuals to harass others without understanding their circumstances or professional roles. She insists that her business aims to provide valuable assistance to those transitioning into Medicare, and that attacking her personally or professionally over a vehicle choice reflects a grave misunderstanding.

In her view, it is disheartening that adults display such disrespectful behavior, attacking her without knowing the full context. Voss remains resolute, stating that she will not succumb to intimidation tactics that threaten her business. She firmly contends that she will continue her work without surrendering to harassment or pressure to change her vehicle.
