Bhushan Kumar praises Ajay Devgn’s collaborative spirit in upcoming projects.
Reports indicate that the climax shoot for “Dhamaal 4” is scheduled to commence in Mumbai this May.
Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated film, “Raid 2,” is set for release on May 1. Serving as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit “Raid,” the film explores themes of corruption and power dynamics. Devgn reprises his role as Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik, confronting his new adversary, Dadabhai, portrayed by Riteish Deshmukh. Produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios, the film has generated considerable buzz. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, T-Series head Bhushan Kumar shared his admiration for Devgn and provided insights into their collaboration on “Dhamaal 4.”
Discussing the superstar’s decision to lower his salary to fit the budget of “Dhamaal 4,” Kumar stated, “Our rapport is exceptional. He embodies the ideal qualities of a producer’s actor. When collaborating on a project, he creates an atmosphere of comfort. For example, as ‘Dhamaal 4′ was projected to have a significant budget, he willingly agreed to reduce his fee to make it feasible. His understanding of the producers’ challenges sets him apart.”
Reflecting on their eight-year partnership, Kumar mentioned, “My association with Ajay has been extensive. We have previously worked on films like ‘Tanhaji,’ ‘Raid,’ and ‘Drishyam.’ Our collaboration began with ‘Baadshaho,’ and now we’re taking on ‘Dhamaal 4’ together, with ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ also in the pipeline. I anticipate that our partnership will endure for many more years. Additionally, I have contributed to the music for most of his films, including the upcoming release of ‘Son Of Sardaar 2.’”
As Kumar continued to extol Devgn’s virtues, Abhishek Pathak from Panorama Studios, who has also directed “Raid 2,” shared his experience of working with Devgn in “Drishyam 2.” Though it was just his second film as a director, Pathak found that Devgn never intruded on his creative process. “Ajay sir is a director’s actor. If he trusts the script and the director, he refrains from interfering. This was my experience while directing him in ‘Drishyam 2,’” Pathak remarked.
Pathak has known Devgn for many years and appreciates his mentorship without being overly protective. Describing him as ‘the most secure actor,’ he recounted, “I’ve known him since childhood. The first encounter was during my school days. He resembles an elder brother to me, and I’ve witnessed his career evolve. Initially, I had concerns about how he would relate to me as a senior actor when I transitioned from working as an assistant director and production crew to a producer. However, throughout the filming of ‘Drishyam 2,’ he never came to the monitor, except once to check if I was doing alright.”
To add, “Raid 2” is helmed by director Raj Kumar Gupta and features actress Vaani Kapoor as part of its cast.
