Actor Ajith Kumar Acknowledges His Wife’s Support After Receiving Padma Bhushan

Bollywood actor Ajith Kumar was recently honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, in a ceremony hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 28. The award was presented to him by President Droupadi Murmu. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Ajith acknowledged his wife’s indispensable role in his success, emphasizing his appreciation for her constant support and sacrifices. “I am thankful to my family for their unwavering support. Shalini has made countless sacrifices and has always been my stronghold. I am immensely grateful to the universe and to everyone who has supported me through challenging times,” he stated.
He went on to express his appreciation for his fans, stating, “They have shown me unconditional love during both the highs and lows. I hope the good times continue.”

Discussing Shalini’s substantial contributions, Ajith remarked, “I genuinely mean this; she was once a well-loved public figure. For her to step back and support my career during trying times deserves immense recognition. Even when my decisions were questionable, she remained steadfast beside me.” The 53-year-old actor believes that much of his achievements can be credited to his wife’s resilience and support.
Earlier, Ajith had shared a sincere message expressing his gratitude for receiving such an honor. He noted, “Being recognized at this level is a privilege, and I am profoundly thankful for this acknowledgment of my work. This award is not just a personal achievement; it reflects the collective encouragement I have received from my colleagues in the film industry.”
It’s worth noting that Shalini was a child artist before transitioning to successful roles as a lead actress in films like Jagadeka Veerudu, Alai Payuthey, and Kannukkul Nilavu. Married to Ajith since 2000, the couple has welcomed two children together.
