Ajith Kumar is set to be honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan today, April 28, 2025, in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi. The actor, who was awarded this significant recognition in January 2025, will receive the accolade directly from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Reports indicate that he has already arrived in the capital with his wife Shalini and their children for the occasion.
This week marks a dual celebration for Ajith Kumar. Following the Padma Bhushan award today, he will also celebrate his birthday on May 1, adding to the festive atmosphere surrounding him and his family.
Ajith was officially announced as a Padma Bhushan recipient on January 25. Following this announcement, he shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude to everyone who has supported him throughout his journey.
In his statement on X (formerly Twitter), Ajith remarked, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India. My sincere thanks go out to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for this prestigious honour. Being recognized at such a level is a true privilege, and I appreciate this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation.”
Ajith emphasized that this accolade transcends personal achievement; it reflects the collective efforts and support from many individuals. “I express my sincere gratitude to my peers, seniors in the film industry, and countless others. Your inspiration and collaboration have been pivotal in my journey and in the pursuits of my passions,” he noted.
He also conveyed appreciation to various organizations in the sports community, particularly in motor racing and shooting. “I am grateful for the continued support from the motor racing fraternity and the sports pistol and rifle shooting community. I thank the Madras Motor Sports Club, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, the National Rifle Association of India, and the Chennai Rifle Club for their encouragement,” he added.
In his heartfelt message, Ajith gave special thanks to his family, saying, “To my family and friends: Your love and support have provided both refuge and strength. I wish my late father could witness this moment, though I find solace in knowing he would be proud of my accomplishments.” He also extended gratitude to his mother for her unwavering support and sacrifices.
Recently, Ajith secured second place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, and has also achieved victories in three races of the 24H Racing Series, which took place in locations including Dubai, Italy, Portugal, and Belgium.
In total, 139 recipients were honored this year with various awards: seven received the Padma Vibhushan, 19 were awarded the Padma Bhushan, and 113 were designated Padma Shri. These awards recognize excellence across a range of fields, including art, social work, science, and medicine, underscoring the diverse contributions individuals make to society.
