Screening of Ajith Kumar’s Film Good Bad Ugly Disrupted Due to Lighting Incident at Vettri Theatres
Ajith Kumar’s film Good Bad Ugly faced a significant disruption during its screening at a theatre in Chennai when a lighting fixture malfunctioned, posing a potential risk to young viewers in attendance. Reports indicate that a disco light, which was part of the theatre’s decorative setup, became loose and nearly fell onto a child sitting in the audience at Vettri Theatres.
The event quickly escalated as the screening was paused for safety reasons. Theatre staff moved swiftly to address the situation and check on the affected child, as highlighted by Thanthi TV.
Reports suggest that the screening was halted for about 30 minutes following the incident involving the lighting. The theatre had incorporated elaborate decorations, including disco balls and specialized lighting effects, to enhance the viewing experience for fans of the film—though this particular element of the setup nearly resulted in a serious accident.
In the aftermath of the incident, the frightened child was comforted by family members who immediately assessed for any injuries. Their concerns led to a confrontation with theatre management regarding safety protocols, particularly reflecting on what could have happened if the lighting had struck the child directly. This confrontation escalated to include a police presence; however, a resolution was eventually reached, and the film screening resumed.
Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, premiered in theatres on April 10. The film has been marketed as a ‘sambavam’ (event) film, resonating with audiences as a return to the classic style associated with Ajith Kumar’s earlier works. The cast includes notable actors such as Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, and Priya Prakash Varrier, with the musical score created by GV Prakash Kumar.
