Akshaye Khanna made his debut with Himalay Putra in 1997 — a film that also featured Vinod Khanna.

Akshaye Khanna stands out as one of Bollywood’s most adaptable actors. He first appeared on screen in the 1997 film Himalay Putra, which also starred his father, Vinod Khanna. In a reflective moment during a previous interview with IANS, Akshaye confessed he never pursued further collaborations with his father, citing the challenge of matching his father’s formidable on-screen presence.

In his own words, Akshaye remarked, “There are certain individuals with whom collaboration is not advisable. My dad is among them. Amitabh Bachchan is another. The confidence to share the same frame as them is beyond me. Their screen presence is so commanding that it’s nearly impossible to keep up. Frankly, I lack that kind of aura. Some actors dominate the screen; my father is certainly one of them.”

Discussing the subject of biopics, Akshaye expressed his reservations. “I’ve never given it much thought, so I can’t provide a definitive answer. However, I believe that accuracy is essential in biopics, making them both daunting and risky for an actor. Portraying a real individual presents its challenges, requiring serious contemplation beforehand,” he explained. Akshaye has portrayed real-life figures, including Hiralal Gandhi, the son of Mahatma Gandhi, in Feroz Abbas Khan’s Gandhi, My Father (2007). More recently, he appeared as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the period war drama Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, earlier this year.

In terms of upcoming projects, Akshaye was last featured in Chhaava, alongside Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. He is currently working on Dhurandhar, in collaboration with Ranveer Singh, which is now entering its final shooting phase. Fans are eagerly anticipating this forthcoming film, helmed by director Aditya Dhar, which promises an intense blend of action, drama, and suspense, positioning it as an engaging cinematic experience.
