Aleksandar Mitrovic Misses Training Due to Heart Condition
In a concerning development for Al-Hilal, former Newcastle United and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has missed training due to experiencing an irregular heart rhythm.
The 30-year-old player was reportedly hospitalized following his performance in a recent Saudi Pro League match, where he netted a goal in Al-Hilal’s 2-0 victory over Al-Fayha on March 7.
This incident comes shortly after Mitrovic’s return from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him since January, raising concerns about his overall fitness and health status.
In a statement, Al-Hilal confirmed, “The medical staff has decided to rest Aleksandar Mitrovic from Sunday’s training, due to feelings of fatigue and arrhythmias.” They further noted that he will be under constant observation by medical specialists to monitor his condition.
Mitrovic made a significant move to Al-Hilal from Fulham in August 2023, with the transfer reportedly setting a club record for the Premier League side. During his time with Fulham, he made 205 appearances and scored 111 goals after his transfer from Newcastle in 2018.
Not only did he establish himself as a prolific scorer—breaking the Championship scoring record with 43 goals in the club’s promotion-winning season of 2021-22—he also made an impact in the Premier League, tallying 38 goals in 129 appearances for both Fulham and Newcastle.
As Al-Hilal prepares for a critical match against Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the second leg of their AFC Champions League Elite last-16 tie on Tuesday, the club has not yet specified whether Mitrovic will participate, despite his impressive record of 13 goals in 14 games in the Saudi Pro League this season.
