Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton Welcome Their First Child
All Creatures Great and Small actress Rachel Shenton has announced the arrival of her first child with husband Chris Overton, an event marked by a hint of unexpected drama. The couple welcomed their baby boy earlier than anticipated.
The 37-year-old star took to Instagram on Saturday, April 19, to share the joyous news, stating, “On the 09.04.2025 my dream came true….Welcome to the world Orson Wilde Overton….Our hearts are yours,” accompanied by a touching black and white image of the newborn’s tiny feet.
Expressing her gratitude, Shenton wrote, “The biggest thank you to the brilliant midwives and doctors at Royal Stoke maternity Unit. Orson came along earlier than expected…so we needed to stay in hospital for a while and we couldn’t have wished for better care and support .”
Shenton’s announcement quickly garnered an outpouring of congratulations from fans, friends, and fellow celebrities. Rivals star Emily Atack expressed her excitement with a comment stating, “Absolutely bloody brilliant news xxx.”
Actress Louisa Lytton from EastEnders chimed in with a heartfelt “Congratulations ,” while others shared their enthusiasm with messages like “What exciting adventures ahead!”
Amid the celebratory comments, one user remarked, “How wonderful! Congratulations to you both,” and another added, “I am SO happy for you, over the moon in fact. This is the best news ever. Enjoy the new born bubble. I’m sending you all so much love.”
Shenton and Overton’s relationship began in 2010, leading to their marriage in 2018. The couple is also known for their artistic success, having won an Oscar for their short film The Silent Child, a poignant story about a deaf girl learning to communicate through sign language, which Shenton wrote and Overton directed.
Shenton gained prominence on the British soap opera Hollyoaks before starring in ABC Family’s drama Switched at Birth as Lily Summers. In 2020, she joined the cast of All Creatures Great and Small, portraying Helen Alderson and has continued in the role throughout all five seasons of the series.
