Since its recent foray into the streaming industry, Max is quickly establishing itself as a formidable contender. With content from renowned networks such as HBO, Warner Bros, Discovery, TBS, Adult Swim, and Cartoon Network, the platform caters to a wide array of viewing tastes.

Traditionally, May tends to be a slower month for streaming services, sandwiched between the tail end of spring and the impending peak of summer. Nevertheless, Max has planned a lineup featuring some eagerly awaited new releases. Alongside ongoing series like The Last of Us, Max’s May schedule includes fresh seasons and series. Here’s a closer look at the most notable new additions.

Streaming May 1

After a two-year break, the acclaimed series 100 Foot Wave, which follows the adventures of surfer Garrett McNamara, is making its return. Prior seasons documented McNamara’s quest to surf the tallest wave ever recorded. While he hasn’t officially conquered a wave of 100 feet, he is thought to hold a world record around 80 to 90 feet.

This series not only tracks McNamara’s surfing feats in Nazare, Portugal but also highlights his efforts to position the town as a premier surfing location. Created by notable documentarian Chris Smith, recognized for works like American Movie and Fyre, the third season of 100 Foot Wave is set to premiere on May 1, with weekly episodes released throughout the month.

‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’ (Season 2)

Streaming May 8

With a career spanning over three decades, Conan O’Brien takes fans on the road in the second season of his series. Having previously explored various countries in special episodes of his late-night shows, O’Brien now engages in face-to-face conversations with guests who were previously featured in video calls on his podcast.

The inaugural season showcased locales such as Norway and Argentina, while the latest season includes stops in New Zealand, Austria, and Spain. Moreover, the series has been renewed for a third season due to its popularity. Viewers can expect to enjoy Conan O’Brien Must Go beginning May 8.

‘Duster’ (Season 1)

Streaming May 15

Duster emerges as Max’s only significant series premiere this month. The crime thriller, crafted by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, follows the groundbreaking journey of the first Black female FBI agent, Nina (played by Rachel Hilson), as she partners with a getaway driver (Josh Holloway) to dismantle a 1970s crime syndicate in the American Southwest.

Although the pilot was filmed in fall 2021, production faced delays due to the 2023 WGA strike. The cast, featuring talents such as Keith David and Corbin Bernsen, promises to captivate audiences when the series debuts on May 15. The eight-episode season will release new episodes weekly until its finale on July 3.

‘And Just Like That…’ (Season 3)

Streaming May 29

The beloved characters Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte return for more escapades in And Just Like That… Season 3. This continuation of the iconic narrative delves into their evolving lives in their 50s, exploring themes of love, sexuality, and motherhood.

Under the guidance of executive producer Michael Patrick King, this season features familiar faces such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, alongside new characters poised to add depth to the storyline. Audiences can look forward to a total of 12 episodes, with the season kicking off on May 29 and concluding with a finale on August 14.
