Following his triumph in the NASCAR Truck Series event at Homestead, Kyle Larson aimed to seize victory in the Xfinity race, hoping to join Kyle Busch as the only driver to achieve a weekend sweep. The Truck Series race proved challenging for Larson, as he recovered from a late spin to secure the win. However, the Xfinity race unfolded more smoothly for him for the majority of the race.
Larson showcased impressive speed, leading for a significant portion of the event. After the last round of green-flag pit stops, he distanced himself from the competitors, managing to lap up to sixth place and building an astonishing lead of over 16 seconds against the nearest rival.
However, the dynamic shifted with fewer than 10 laps remaining when a spin from Taylor Gray prompted a sprint to the finish. Larson initially maintained his lead for the critical overtime restart, but his choice to delay his launch in the restart zone did not pay off. As Larson spun his tires due to contact from Sam Mayer, the outside lane surged forward, altering the race’s outcome.

Austin Hill briefly took the lead, but Justin Allgaier maneuvered around Hill to clinch the victory for JR Motorsports. This win marks Allgaier as the first multi-time victor of the 2025 Xfinity season, adding to his resume as the reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion.
“This is a testament to my team,” Allgaier expressed after securing his 27th career win. “Today wasn’t ideal for us, but we pushed through. Winning here feels particularly special, as this place has given me my fair share of challenges.” This victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway was significant for Allgaier, marking his first win at this location in his 17th Xfinity race there.
“He slammed the s*** out of me”
Finishing the race, Mayer placed second, followed by Hill in third, with a disappointed Larson in fourth and Sheldon Creed rounding out the top five. The final positions were completed by Jesse Love, Brandon Jones, Nick Sanchez, Daniel Dye, and Carson Kvapil in the top ten.
Larson shared his thoughts on the pivotal restart, recounting, “I’ve dealt with disappointment here before, and it’s tough. When my rear tires are lifted off the ground, I can’t accelerate. I get that it seems like I blew another chance, but I did what I could, and the #41 [Mayer] lagged back and hit me pretty hard.”

Mayer reflected on the incident, admitting a degree of responsibility: “I mistimed it. I got to his bumper too quickly. He waited a long time to go, and I didn’t expect him to delay that much. It’s part of the game, but I was eager to take off.”
Kyle Busch remains the only driver to have accomplished the weekend sweep by winning all three races—the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck races—at Bristol Motor Speedway, achieving this rare feat in 2010 and again in 2017.
