Safety Recall Issued for Vivitar Blender Bottles Sold at Target

Consumers who enjoy preparing their favorite protein shakes or smoothies should take note of a significant product recall affecting nearly 200,000 Vivitar blender bottles. The bottles have been pulled from shelves due to a safety concern where the blades could activate even when the bottle is detached from the base, a situation that poses a risk of laceration, as reported by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

This recall was publicly announced on April 3, impacting approximately 199,000 units. The blenders are imported by Sakar International, Inc., a company based in Edison, New Jersey, and manufactured in China. The products are characterized by their clear plastic bodies and white plastic tops and bases.

These blender bottles, priced around $5, were exclusively sold at Target stores and online at target.com from December 2024 through January 2025. The recall stems from a reported incident where a user managed to detach the bottle while the blades continued to spin, creating a potential danger of cuts or injuries. Fortunately, the CPSC has confirmed that there have been no reported injuries related to this issue.

Despite the recall affecting nearly 200,000 bottles, less than 900 were actually sold. Identifying features of the recalled products include a sticker with the following information: “VIVITAR,” “Description: Blender Bottle,” “ITEM: ES15-BB-TA,” and “MID #5220824.” Additionally, the same MID code can be found stamped on the base. The CPSC’s recall announcement includes illustrative photos to assist consumers in making a correct identification.

As part of the recall process, Sakar is reaching out to individuals known to have purchased these blender bottles. Consumers who may own one are advised to stop using the product immediately and contact Sakar for instructions on how to proceed with obtaining a refund. Refunds will be processed as either a $5 Target gift card or a check.

To receive a refund, consumers must return their blender bottles—however, these should not be taken back to Target. Instead, Sakar will provide a prepaid shipping label for mailing the products back. Notably, proof of purchase, such as a receipt, is not required for the refund process.
