Amazon Music Unlimited Subscribers Gain Access to Audiobooks
As of now, users of Amazon Music Unlimited in the U.S., UK, and Canada can enjoy a new benefit: one complimentary audiobook each month from Audible’s extensive library. This addition enriches the experience for subscribers who previously only had access to Amazon Music’s vast array of over 100 million songs and podcasts.
This feature is available to individual plan subscribers and primary account holders on family plans, allowing them to select and listen to one audiobook of any duration each month. Subscribers can continue enjoying their chosen title even as the new billing cycle starts, or they have the option to choose a different audiobook. For those interested in more than one audiobook, additional purchases or an Audible subscription will be necessary.
Steve Boom, Amazon’s VP of audio, Twitch, and games, remarked on this integration, saying, “The combination of Amazon Music and Audible, two pioneers in audio streaming, brings an unmatched selection of audio entertainment to customers.” Concurrently, Audible’s CEO, Bob Carrigan, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “As our category continues to evolve and scale, we’ve seen an ever-growing appetite for audiobooks. The opportunity to extend Audible to Amazon Music subscribers enables us to captivate the next generation of listeners.”
This development positions Amazon Music to more effectively compete with platforms like Spotify, which offers a similar audiobook service. Spotify Premium includes 15 hours of audiobook listening for $11.99 each month, while the platform also has an audiobook-exclusive plan priced at $9.99 monthly for the same listening duration. In contrast, Amazon Music Unlimited is available at $9.99 per month or $99 annually for Amazon Prime members, while non-Prime users pay $10.99 monthly.
