AMD and Nvidia Graphics Card Pricing Update
In the current graphics card market, the pricing landscape for models like the AMD 9070 and AMD 9070 XT has undergone notable changes. Initially launched at MSRP values of $550 and $600 respectively, these models have become increasingly hard to find. Our analysis indicates that these specific cards are completely out of stock across all retailers checked.
Despite the limited availability, several retailers have preemptively adjusted prices ahead of incoming shipments. Observations reveal that not all retailers have modified their listings for every model. For instance, Best Buy has only listed a single version of both the AMD 9070 and 9070 XT at their original MSRP but has yet to update these prices while remaining out of stock. The retailer also features a couple of Gigabyte models, also at MSRP, that are currently unavailable.
Similarly, Micro Center maintains listings for three models of the 9070 and four of the 9070 XT at their original prices, although all remain out of stock as well.
Shifting focus to Nvidia graphics cards, it appears there has not been significant price inflation related to scalping among major US retailers for their models. We are monitoring six variations of the $550 RTX 5070, three versions of the $750 RTX 5070 Ti, and three variants of the $1,000 RTX 5080, all of which continue to be listed at their MSRP prices by retailers such as Best Buy, Newegg, and Micro Center.
Recently, AMD expressed optimism regarding the availability of their graphics cards, indicating expectations for supply from various vendors at the previously mentioned prices of $549 and $599. However, AMD did not specify which board partners or retailers would adhere to these price points or the exact sales volume needed before any price increases are implemented.
Market Dynamics and Future Outlook
As the graphics card market evolves, it remains essential for consumers to stay informed about pricing and availability trends. The situation reflects broader supply chain challenges and market demand fluctuations. Observing how retailers adapt to these changes will provide insights into the future pricing strategies that major brands may adopt.
