Amy Schumer Lists Brooklyn Heights Townhouse for $14 Million
Amy Schumer is bidding farewell to her Brooklyn neighborhood after three years, putting her historic townhouse on the market for an impressive $14 million, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Originally constructed in 1829, the townhouse has gained fame for its appearance in the romantic comedy Moonstruck, which starred Cher and Nicolas Cage. In 2022, Schumer and her family acquired the property for $12.25 million after deciding to move on from their $13 million apartment on the Upper West Side, which they sold in 2023.
The Federal-style residence boasts five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, showcasing many original features that reflect its 19th-century heritage. Notable elements include the original exterior dating back to the 1800s, soaring ceilings, exquisite crown moldings, vintage wooden cabinets, and a fireplace adorned with grand marble mantels. The kitchen is equipped with high-end Gaggenau appliances and a three-oven LaCanche range, a thoughtful nod to Schumer’s husband, Chris Fischer, who is a professional chef. Additional highlights of the home include a gym, a custom wine cellar in the basement, and a backyard that provides private parking. Landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburg was enlisted to enhance the outdoor space, adding a swing set and play structure for their five-year-old son, Gene. Schumer expressed her affection for their home, stating, “We loved what we moved into, but we’ve definitely made it our own.”
According to the WSJ, Schumer and Fischer have plans to relocate back to Manhattan to be closer to their child’s school. Schumer noted the daily challenge of commuting 45 minutes and mentioned that with 5,600 square feet of living space, the home felt too large for their small family. “This is a home that is just ready for more people,” she remarked.
