Angelina Jolie Reveals Surprising Career Backup Plan on ‘The Tonight Show’

Angelina Jolie, the acclaimed actress and humanitarian, surprised audiences during her recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” by discussing a unique career path she considered before fully committing to acting.

Amidst attempts to clarify various internet rumors, Fallon inquired about an intriguing claim that Jolie had explored becoming a funeral director. Jolie confirmed, stating, “Yes.” When pressed for more details, Fallon was visibly astonished, asking, “Why? How?”

Jolie explained her rationale, saying, “Doesn’t it make sense, though?” She reflected on her personal experiences, noting, “My grandfather died, and I remembered thinking, ‘This is not how they should be. This should be a celebration of life.’” She articulated her comfort with the concept of death, leading her to see the funeral profession as a meaningful opportunity. “I thought, ‘This would be a great career path for me,’” she added.

With a light-hearted touch, Jolie remarked, “I could, like, make this better. I could do a thing here,” and playfully referred to it as her “fallback career.”

Exploring Aviation and Comedy Aspirations

As the conversation continued, Fallon brought up Jolie’s rumored interest in aviation. She enthusiastically shared, “Yes, I’m a pilot,” and revealed that her son, Maddox, is also pursuing pilot training. According to reports from People magazine, Jolie obtained her pilot’s license in 2004, showcasing her adventurous spirit beyond acting.

However, when Fallon teased about her potential career in comedy, Jolie firmly dismissed the notion, stating, “That is definitely a no.” She noted her comfort in both the funeral profession and flying but expressed her apprehension toward comedy, highlighting the different types of fear associated with each.

Jolie’s Foray into Singing

Despite her fears, Jolie has recently faced new challenges in her artistic journey, particularly in singing for her role as the legendary opera singer Maria Callas in the upcoming film “Maria.” In an interview with “Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi, she shared her trepidation about singing, admitting, “I was very scared to sing and I was nervous to do things.” However, she emphasized that pushing through fears can be a rewarding part of being an artist.

Jolie also discussed her experiences as a mother while filming. She expressed pride in hearing her children recognize the hard work she puts into her craft, stating, “They did say they were proud of how hard I worked.” She conveyed that her children’s acknowledgment of her efforts brought her immense joy.

Furthermore, she reflected on her vulnerability while filming, sharing, “I was so happy to be with them, and definitely they saw me terrified,” which she noted is not a common experience for parents. Jolie’s openness about her fears demonstrated a different side of her approach to parenting, showing that even renowned figures can experience moments of uncertainty.

Ultimately, Jolie’s revelations about her potential career paths beyond acting highlight the multifaceted nature of her personality and the depth of her experiences.
