Implausible: Dedicated fans of the Earthbound series have been eagerly awaiting a new installment or even an official translation of the Japan-only release of Mother 3 for many years. Nonetheless, I find myself hoping for a revival of the Punch-Out franchise, which made a surprising comeback on the Wii in 2009.
Screen
This screenshot, though compressed, hints that the Switch 2 will have a display that surpasses the original Switch’s resolution.

Likely: While the original 720p screen was impressive for a handheld gaming device in 2017, expectations have shifted towards a full 1080p display as the standard for premium portable gaming devices. It is anticipated that Nintendo will adopt this trend with what seems to be nearing an 8-inch screen for the Switch 2.
Possible: The introduction of a brighter OLED screen could enhance the visual experience on the Switch 2. However, it is expected that Nintendo may position this as a more expensive upgrade, following the pattern established during the previous console generation.
Implausible: This new iteration of the Switch would be an ideal opportunity for Nintendo to revisit the concept of glasses-free stereoscopic 3D which had generated significant buzz back on the 3DS.
C Button
C-ing is believing.

Likely: The intriguing new button labelled “C” on the Switch 2’s right Joy-Con may potentially serve as a means to “connect” with other players, possibly leading to a new era of social interaction reminiscent of a Miiverse-style platform.
Possible: Recent speculations suggest that the C button might allow users to connect to a second Switch console or a docked TV setup, facilitating a true dual-screen gaming experience. This could be particularly appealing for fans of Wii U or DS games and their remastered versions.
Implausible: An amusing theory is that the C stands for Chibi-Robo!, thereby launching a fun mini-game centered around the beloved robot.
New features
Likely: Given the past inconvenience of using a separate smartphone app for voice chat on the Switch, it would make sense for Nintendo to finally integrate full on-device voice chat for online multiplayer games on the Switch 2, at least among confirmed friends.
Possible: The introduction of system-level achievement tracking could align Nintendo’s new console with a feature that has been a staple in Sony and Microsoft’s offerings for many years.
Implausible: Although it would be exciting for Nintendo to reintroduce the Virtual Console for buying timeless classics that can be accessed across multiple generations, a more realistic wish might be the revival of the 3DS’s StreetPass system—a passive social networking feature for gamers on the go.
