ANYbotics Launches Data Navigator for Enhanced Asset Management
ANYbotics AG has introduced Data Navigator, a new asset management platform aimed at enabling businesses to optimize their use of inspection data. This innovative tool leverages information collected by ANYmal quadruped robots, offering organizations a detailed perspective on the health of their assets. By transforming this data into actionable insights, Data Navigator facilitates proactive maintenance approaches.
Péter Fankhauser, co-founder and CEO of ANYbotics, highlighted the importance of accessibility to inspection data for maintenance and reliability teams responsible for managing essential infrastructure. He emphasized that “Data Navigator is the key to unlocking that value,” as it grants users smooth access to insights on asset health produced by ANYmal robots. This empowers teams to identify trends, make informed maintenance decisions, and ultimately enhance operational efficiency and plant uptime.
ANYbotics secured $60 million in funding in December 2024 to support its expansion efforts in the U.S. and to address the surging demand for its robotic inspection technologies.
Data Navigator Consolidates Monitoring Capabilities
In sectors such as energy, mining, and oil and gas, maintaining asset integrity is crucial, yet traditional visual inspections can be labor-intensive. Data Navigator streamlines this process by reconciling and centralizing data collected from a range of sensors, including thermal, acoustic, visual, and gas measurements. By monitoring trends and providing alerts for unusual conditions, asset managers can foresee potential issues, thereby saving considerable time and resources.
Thorsten Piniek, vice president of health and safety at Outokumpu, a leading stainless steel manufacturer, remarked on the platform’s utility in analyzing historical data and setting alerts based on anomalies. This functionality will enable organizations to prioritize and schedule maintenance before critical failures arise.
User-Friendly Interface Design
Data Navigator has been designed with an emphasis on usability, eliminating the need for specialized robotics knowledge. Dominik Baumgartend, a maintenance engineer at chemical company Grace, praised the platform’s intuitive nature, stating that team members across various departments can easily filter and access necessary insights.
Security and Deployment Flexibility
Offering multiple deployment options, Data Navigator can be implemented either in the cloud or on-premises, including configurations that require no Internet connection. ANYbotics ensures that the system can seamlessly fit into existing IT frameworks while preserving data security. Patrik D’Allens, head of technical services at fragrance manufacturer DSM-Firmenich, emphasized the importance of data privacy, noting that Data Navigator was installed as a secure, air-gapped solution.
This platform not only allows for the swift deployment and validation of ANYmal inspections but is also built to integrate with enterprise systems like those from SAP and IBM as needed. Users can expect immediate insights from their robotic inspection data upon installation.
Key Features of Data Navigator
- Flexible Deployment: The platform caters to various infrastructure needs, maintaining data security throughout.
- Intuitive Interface: Data Navigator ensures critical information is accessible to all authorized users without the need for extensive training.
- Immediate Insights: Designed for quick deployment, it enables users to promptly realize the advantages of using ANYmal robots.
- Historical Data Access: Users can analyze past data to recognize trends in asset performance.
- Enhanced Data Access: Insights derived from data can lead to better maintenance planning, resource management, and cost savings.
- Operational Efficiency: By providing high-frequency and objective data, the platform eliminates uncertainty in decision-making.
Recent pilot programs carried out with Grace, Outokumpu, and DSM-Firmenich demonstrated the platform’s capabilities, analyzing over 2,500 inspections within a two-week period. The rapid deployment of both cloud and on-premise solutions was noted, with on-premise systems becoming operational in just hours. The ease of use of Data Navigator also meant that maintenance teams could engage with the platform immediately, without the need for specialized training.
Overall, Data Navigator is poised to significantly enhance asset management capabilities across various industries, allowing for improved operational efficiency and asset longevity.
