In the wake of the controversy surrounding the India’s Got Latent episode, Apoorva Mukhija has finally spoken out about the backlash she encountered. The outrage was largely spurred by controversial remarks made by fellow guest Ranveer Allahbadia during the same episode. Since that incident, Apoorva has chosen to maintain a low profile, opting out of promotional activities for her latest project, Nadaaniyan, and abstaining from attending its premiere.
Recently, influencer Sufi Motiwala shared a reel on social media that criticized Apoorva’s performance and fashion choices in Nadaaniyan. While acknowledging her acting talent, Motiwala remarked on the stark differences between her character’s styling and her personal fashion, describing it as “jarring.” In response, Apoorva cleverly remarked, “Got hated so hard that now even Sufi Motiwala doesn’t say hateful things about me,” indicating her awareness of the ongoing discussions about her.
Her comment serves as evidence of the substantial backlash she has been experiencing since the controversial episode aired. During the episode of the Samay Raina show, which featured both Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, the incident began to unfold. Following this, Apoorva took a step back from promoting Nadaaniyan and notably missed its premiere event.
On Thursday, Apoorva reached out to her supporters via her Instagram broadcast channel, sharing a cryptic yet revealing message: “Diwaaron ke bhi kaan hote hain” (Even walls have ears), which seemed to reference the ongoing scrutiny and conversations being held about her situation.
Earlier this month, Apoorva and Ranveer made an appearance at the National Commission for Women (NCW) office, where they proactively submitted written apologies related to the earlier incident. A video that circulated online depicted Apoorva leaving the Khar police station while attempting to shield her face from the press with a mask.
The incident has notably affected Apoorva’s public perception, drawing attention to her every action. Nevertheless, her recent witty engagement suggests she is approaching the scrutiny with resilience.
