New applications like Image Playground, Writing Tools, and Genmoji lead the update
The AVision Pro app for iPhone simplifies hardware management and introduces new content
The latest update to Apple Vision Pro, visionOS 2.4, significantly enhances the capabilities of this mixed reality headset, bringing a suite of features powered by Apple Intelligence. Priced at $3,499, the headset now offers users advanced functionalities aimed at enriching their experience.
Available for download, visionOS 2.4 introduces several notable features:
- Image Playground
- Genmojis
- Writing Tools
One of the standout additions, Writing Tools, brings intelligent writing suggestions to applications such as Messages and Notes, enhancing productivity with AI-driven insights. Image Playground, a fresh addition to the Vision Pro app lineup, allows users to craft imaginative generative images.
This innovative app functions similarly to its counterparts on iOS, enabling users to generate unique artworks using both gestures and voice commands. Users can create images that represent themselves or their contacts in various themes, including “Rainforest,” “Sci-fi,” “Spring,” “Party,” and more. Furthermore, users can choose from three distinct artistic styles: Animations, Illustration, and Sketch.
The launch of visionOS 2.4 coincides with the rollout of iOS 18.4, which introduces the AVision Pro app for iPhone users. This app provides valuable details about the specific features of the Vision Pro headset, such as prescription insert specifications for those who use them, and showcases new content available for the headset.
In addition to the new features, the Vision Pro update includes a Spatial Gallery, an immersive content platform showcasing Apple’s latest spatial video content, including a feature titled VVIP: Yankee Stadium, which provides an engaging exploration of the famous ballpark.
Initial interactions with the Apple Intelligence features highlight their intuitive design and seamless integration with the Vision Pro’s gaze and gesture-centric interface. Using voice commands to customize creations in Image Playground proves particularly effective, allowing for a hands-free creative process.
While users can access ChatGPT through Apple’s digital assistant Siri, there are no significant changes in this area with the visionOS 2.4 update. The anticipation remains for a future Siri that can comprehensively recognize desktop elements on the Vision Pro and execute mixed-reality actions accordingly.
Moreover, visionOS 2.4 enhances Guest Mode functionality, allowing users to activate this setting directly from their iPhone. This improvement enables guests to experience the Vision Pro without the need for a prior set-up step, streamlining the sharing process and making it more user-friendly for all involved.
